Gazprom Export has signed a sponsorship agreement with Austria Wien

The agreement is aimed at projects for the support of youth and junior sport. The partnership will be visible on the jerseys of all youth teams and in the Austria Wien Academy powered by Gazprom Export.

President Wolfgang Katzian: „We are proud to present Gazprom Export as our new partner. This collaboration is an important aspect of our strategic goals internationalisation and digitization. The excellent youth development of Austria Wien is known internationally. Through the collaboration with Gazprom we are able to achieve even greater conditions for our youth development.“

CEO Markus Kraetschmer: „The collaboration between Austria Wien and Gazprom Export is explicitly focused on youth development. Thereby, we are able to make further investments in our academy and further enhance the standards in our youth development.“

Alexander Ivanovich Medvedev (Deputy Chairman of the Management Committee of Gazprom): „I am pleased to be in Vienna in this nice and modern stadium for this very important matter. The way Austria Wien works in youth development gave us the impulse to start this collaboration. I am certain that this collaboration is going to yield a great outcome. Gazprom Export is very experienced in working with youth teams.“

Background

Gazprom has a long-lasting and close economic in relationship gas supplies with Austria that lasts for 50 years. In 1968, the first agreement for supplying natural gas from the USSR to Austria was signed with Österreichische Mineralölverwaltung (ÖMV). Today, Austria is among the major buyers of Russian gas. In 2017, exports reached a record 9.1 billion cubic meters.

Gazprom Group supports a range of globally renowned football clubs, and is an official partner of the UEFA Champions League.

FC Austria Wien is one of the most famous football clubs in the Republic of Austria. The club includes the regular team, the Young Violets (19-21 years), and the Youth Academy that consists of the Junior Football Academy (7-14 years) and the Premium Football Academy (15-18 years).
