Matthias Braunöder is "Young Star of the Year"

From the age of nine, Matthias Braunöder went through all of Austria's youth and academy teams and made the leap to the pros via the Young Violets. Now the 19-year-old has been named 'Young Star of the Year' in the 'Krone' footballers' poll.

Matthias Braunöder: "If someone had told me this a year ago, I would never have dreamed of it, I see it as confirmation of my achievements. I will continue to work hard on myself and try to help the team and the club. I want to thank all the fans who voted for me and give us outstanding support every week."

Coach Manfred Schmid: "I can only give him the highest praise. He is a prime example of our way of youth. Matthias has all the skills to become a great player."

Matthias Braunöder developed into a regular player under coach Manfred Schmid. After brief appearances against Salzburg, Sturm, LASK and Altach, the 19-year-old is now an integral part of the Veilchen's starting eleven. Braunöder is currently with the Austrian Under-21 national team along with his teammates Can Keles, Vesel Demaku and Niels Hahn.
