Matthias Braunöder loaned to Como 1907

Matthias Braunöder has joined Como 1907 on loan until the summer. The Italian Serie B club is on course for promotion and has an option to buy. Braunöder has come through all of Austria Wien's youth programmes and academy since 2011 and played 97 games for the Violets. The 21-year-old bids farewell to his Austria with emotional words. We say: Thank you, Motz!

Matthias Braunöder: "Austria Wien is my club and always will be. I spent my childhood, youth and my first professional years here and had unforgettable experiences - with fellow players, coaches and with our fans, who always supported and pushed me. But I think that now is the right time for me to take the step abroad. At Como 1907, I have the opportunity to assert myself in Italy and achieve promotion to Serie A. Thank you Austria Wien for giving me this opportunity."

Sporting Director Manuel Ortlechner: "At Como, Motz has the tangible opportunity to play in Serie A next season against top teams such as Juventus, Inter Milan & AC Milan - his coach there is the former world-class player Cesc Fàbregas. I can therefore understand why this move is very appealing to him, even though his departure is painful for us as a club. From our point of view, Motz is and remains a prototype of the Austria way and a role model for all academy players and Young Violets who want to gain a lasting foothold in the first team and have a top five league as their big goal."
