Never change a winning team - Michael Wimmer relied on the winning team against Blau-Weiß Linz. Only Lucas Galvão had to be replaced by Matteo Meisl due to injury. Marvin Potzmann and Aleksandar Jukić started again in the midfield. Matthias Braunöder, James Holland and Manfred Fischer returned to the squad and took a seat on the bench for the time being.

Thomas Silberberger, coach of WSG Tirol, made two changes after the defeat in Hartberg: David Gugganig, who was recently suspended with a yellow card, returned to central defence and replaced Alexander Ranacher. Furthermore, Mahamadou Diarra started instead of Dominik Stumberger.

Asllani put an overwhelmingly superior Austria in the lead

Austria dominated the game from the start. After only 36 seconds Andreas Gruber was alone in front of the Tyrolean goal after a pass from Dominik Fitz and Manuel Polster, but he put the ball past the second bar. Polster's pass to Fisnik Asllani was saved by goalkeeper Adam Stejskal (10th). Gruber headed in a corner from Fitz, but found no taker, and Stejskal made a fist save from a Fitz free kick (14th, 15th). Marvin Martins hammered a volley towards goal, the ball was deflected for a corner, a header by Johannes Handl went over the goal (19, 24.).

The Violets had more than 70% possession, the goal-shot ratio was 7:0, yet WSG almost took the lead: Nik Prelec hit the bar after a quick counter-attack - luck for Austria (27th). But in minute 33 the Austria fans were allowed to cheer, Fisnik Asllani scored artfully for the 1:0 lead. Manuel Polster provided the assist.

Austria did not allow WSG to breathe and created a firework of chances. A Gruber shot was blocked by Stejskal, Martins shot just beside the goal after a dream pass by Fitz (40th). Asllani, after a pass from Reinhold Ranftl, let a Tyrolean pass by, but then missed the box (41.). With the 1:0 lead, the team went into the dressing room.

Romeo Vučić sealed the deal

The second half began much more calmly. Asllani hit the outer net, a shot by Fitz went wide (47., 58.). WSG Tirol were better in the game, shots by substitute Aleksander Buksa went just past the goal (55., 63.). Another chance of the Pole was saved by Christian Früchtl (64.).

20 minutes before the end, Wimmer took the entire offensive line off the pitch, Muki Husković, Romeo Vučić and Manfred Fischer came into the game. Husković would have moved towards the WSG goal in the 70th minute, but David Gugganig prevented the "comebacker of the year" from doing so and was shown the red card by referee Stefan Ebner.

Nevertheless, the Watteners remained dangerous, Früchtl saved once more against Buksa in the 77th minute. But in the 80th minute the Violets managed the decision. Matthias Braunöder, who had just replaced Aleksandar Jukić, won the ball in midfield and ideally served Romeo Vučić, who only had to push the ball over the line - 2:0 for Austria.

Husković and Handl missed further chances for the Violets (86., 87.). Hakim Guenouche replaced Manuel Polster for the last minutes, but the score remained unchanged. Austria deserved to win 2:0 against WSG Tirol at the Tivoli in Innsbruck.
