Wimmer joined the Veilchen in the summer of 2019 from Gaflenz, in the winter of 2021 the option for another season until summer 2022 was pulled. The parties have agreed not to disclose the terms of the transfer.

Sports director Manuel Ortlechner: "Patrick has developed very well with us and always continued to work hard on himself. His performance has attracted the interest of a number of clubs. Accordingly, it is hardly surprising that he now wants to take the next step in his career. We wish him all the best for this, of course. With his positive nature and great fighting heart, he will also gain a foothold in Germany."

The winger played a total of 72 competitive games for Austria, scoring ten goals. Ortlechner: "He is young, hungry and still has a lot of potential. We're happy for him, but at the same time it's also a special confirmation for us as a club that the door is open for anyone to play their way into the international leagues."

Patrick Wimmer: "I would like to thank you for the great two years. I always wore the jersey with pride and gave everything. Even though it's hard for me to say goodbye, a huge dream comes true for me with the transfer to the Bundesliga. I'm already looking forward to this challenge."
