Preview of the UWCL qualifying tie against Hajduk Split

The Veilchen have been in Slovenia since Tuesday lunchtime, where they will face Hajduk Split in the semi-final of the UWCL Q2 mini-tournament on Wednesday. The final training session took place in high temperatures, which will also put the players to the test during the match against the Croatian side. Nevertheless, head coach Stefan Kenesei says they have a clear goal in mind.

The sun was beating down as the Violets arrived in Slovenia on Tuesday. Despite the sweltering heat, there was little time to rest, as the final training session was on the agenda. Before the mini-tournament kicks off on Wednesday, the team needed to run through and practise a few set pieces once more.

Croatian champions await the Violets

Having enjoyed a remarkable international campaign last season, the Violets’ goal for this season is clear: they want to test themselves against Europe’s best teams once again. The first step towards this is set to be taken as early as Wednesday. In the semi-final of the UWCL Q2 mini-tournament, last season’s Croatian champions, Hajduk Split, await the Violets. Whilst they were unable to achieve the desired result at the start of the league campaign last weekend, they now aim to kick off the season with success on the international stage.

“We want to stay in the European competition for as long as possible!”

Head coach Stefan Kenesei is looking forward to the upcoming matches and has a clear goal in mind: “We’ve settled in brilliantly here and are really looking forward to this mini-tournament. Last year, we saw that these European trips and international matches are really great and that we can learn a lot from them for our development. We were able to gain a great deal of valuable experience from them, and I’m hoping for the same this year. Ideally, we want to finish this mini-tournament in Q2 as group winners and stay in the European competition for as long as possible!"
