True to the motto "never change a winning team", Manfred Schmid had planned the same starting eleven for the Tirol game as he had last seen in the 4-1 home win over SV Ried. But because Lukas Mühl was not feeling well during the warm-up, the coach was forced to make a change and Christian Schoissengeyr stepped in. Vesel Demaku and Muharem Huskovic returned to the squad and took a seat on the bench for the time being, the third squad change concerned substitute keeper Mirko Kos.

For the home side, Thomas Silberberger made three personnel changes compared to Thursday's Cup exit against LASK (1-2). Leon Klassen on the left in the back four and Stefan Skrbo and Johannes Naschberger on the wings slipped into the team.

Open game at Tivoli

In bright sunshine but quite a strong wind, the Violets quickly found their way in front of the opponent's goal, but Manfred Fischer headed past the far corner after Markus Suttner's free-kick cross (3rd). After a long ball from Behounek, Skrbo took off quickly on the edge of the penalty area and chased the leather in the direction of the Austria fans in the visitors' sector (10th).

Fischer was a brave player in midfield and set up Georg Teigl with a dream pass, but WSG goalkeeper and ex-Violet Benjamin Ozegovic played well and prevented anything worse from the hosts' point of view (18th). Moments later, Petsos tried from 18 meters and his shot just missed the far corner (20th), on the counterattack Matthias Braunöder shot, Ozegovic had no problems (21st).

After a corner by Suttner, Braunöder tried again, but this time missed the goal by a wide margin (24th). Afterwards, there were no compelling chances, and the Violets were only dangerous again shortly before the break. Eric Martel won the ball from Awoudja in the penalty area and, after a short dribble, passed the ball back to Fischer, whose shot was blocked (41st).

Huskovic's debut goal to equalize

In the second half, it was Marco Djuricin who found the first opportunity, but his shot after a pass from Can Keles landed over the goal (54th). On the opposite side, Vrioni took a Naschberger-Stanglpass with his heel, but Schoissengeyr was careful (56th). Only seconds later, however, the Violet defense made it too easy for the Tyroleans: Skrbo had too much time on the left wing and Vrioni had too much space in the center after the cross - the lead for the hosts (57th).

A shot by Sabitzer was no problem for Patrick Pentz (64th), a flick by Müller landed over the crossbar (70th). Vesel Demaku made his comeback in the 71st minute, having last been in action against Altach on September 18. The defensive midfielder came into the game at the same time as Muharem Huskovic and Alexander Grünwald, already at the break Schmid substituted Noah Ohio.

Vrioni shot past the far corner (76th), in the direct counterattack Fischer set up Suttner and his made-to-measure cross to the middle Huskovic headed in confidently for the equalizer (77th)! After nine goals in the 2nd division for the Young Violets, it was the first Bundesliga goal for the 18-year-old. In the finish, both teams wanted the win, it went back and forth. Vrioni sprinted into a Schoissengeyr backpass and rounded Pentz, Johannes Handl cleared in the highest emergency (80th).

The Violet goalkeeper thwarted the Tyrolean victory in the 89th minute with a strong save against Smith's header. Seconds later, Djuricin had the opportunity to secure the three points after a free kick, but missed (90th). In the end, it remained a fair draw at the Tivoli.
