Even the fourth derby of the season ended 1-1

Rapid took the lead through a Bernhard Zimmermann goal in the first half, but the scorer was later sent off with a yellow card. Noah Ohio managed the highly deserved equalizer shortly before the end. Austria remains in fourth place with two rounds to go.

Matthias Braunöder reported fit in time and started in the defensive midfield next to Vesel Demaku. Eric Martel was absent due to suspension. In the forward line, Marco Djuričin started in place of Noah Ohio. Otherwise, Manfred Schmid's team remained unchanged after the good performance at WAC.

The guests from Hütteldorf had to do without suspended goalkeeper Niklas Hedl, Paul Gartler started in his place. Kelvin Arase, Bernhard Zimmermann and Maximilian Hofmann replaced Yusuf Demir, Ferdy Druijf and Dejan Petrovič.

Better Austria went into the break with a 0-1 lead

Rapid had to change early, Filip Stojković had to leave the field injured, Thorsten Schick came on for the full-back (8th). A little later Marco Djuričin also had to be treated, but could continue for the time being. The first chance of the game came from the violets: Matthias Braunöder won the ball in midfield, Marco Djuričin forwarded to Aleksandar Jukić, but his finish was too weak (15.). After Markus Suttner's free kick, Djuričin headed the ball towards goal, but just missed it (25.). A long shot by Suttner went well over (29.).

A dominant Austria had the next opportunity in the 33rd minute, but Alexander Grünwald's shot after Suttner's assist was too weak. Marco Djuričin had to come off after 36 minutes, Noah Ohio came into the game. Completely contrary to the course of the game, the guests took the lead, Bernhard Zimmermann scored 0:1 (37th).

Austria lost a bit of the flow of the game after conceding the goal, in the five-minute injury time of the first half there was still a shot by Marco Grüll, but Patrick Pentz parried it safely - 0:1 at the break.

Noah Ohio equalized

Manfred Schmid brought on Can Keles for Vesel Demaku, changed the system to a 4-1-4-1, and Patrick Pentz thwarted a chance from Christoph Knasmüllner (54th). A shot by Manfred Fischer was blocked, Keles' subsequent cross landed on Martin Moormann's hand, but the penalty whistle failed to blow (56.). In the 58th minute Bernhard Zimmermann was sent off with a yellow-red card after a foul on Braunöder. The scorer saw the first yellow card for his provocative cheering in front of the east stand.

With one man more, Austria became increasingly dominant. A bicycle kick by Marvin Martins failed, but shortly afterwards Ohio had a great chance to equalize after a dream pass by Fischer. Unfortunately, the ball went a few centimeters past the goal (60., 64.). Paul Gartler turned a cracker from Keles over the crossbar (69.). A handball by Kevin Wimmer was also not worthy of a penalty for the referee team around Christopher Jäger (74.). A shot by Aleksandar Jukić was deflected for a corner by Robert Ljubičić - the equalizer was in the air (78.).

In the 81st minute, Markus Suttner scored after a one-two with Jukić and Noah Ohio scored to make it 1-1 - highly deserved. Dominik Fitz, who replaced Grünwald, tested Gartler with a volley - corner kick. This resulted in a header by Martins that just missed its target (83rd). The rolling attacks of the Veilchen no longer led to the winning goal, and the fourth derby of the season also ended in a 1-1 draw.
