2-1 in Klagenfurt - Austria in 3rd place!

Noah Ohio put the Veilchen ahead in the first minute, but in the second half the hosts from Klagenfurt equalised through Patrick Greil. Substitute Dominik Fitz redeemed Wiener Austria and scored in the 85th minute to make it 1-2. Austria climbed to third place and on Saturday the fight for Europe will end with a grand final at home against Sturm Graz.

Manfred Schmid made only minimal changes to the starting eleven after the 1-1 against the city rivals: Eric Martel returned to the team after his yellow suspension and took over the position in defensive midfield from Vesel Demaku. Marco Djuričin had to miss this time after his concussion in the last match, Noah Ohio started up front.

Peter Pacult suffered a defeat with Austria Klagenfurt against Sturm the previous week, but the Viennese only changed his starting line-up in two positions. Lennart Moser started in goal instead of Phillip Menzel. In the back four, the red-suspended Nicolas Wimmer was replaced by Thorsten Mahrer.

Dream start!

The game could not have started better, after only 59 seconds the Veilchen could cheer: Aleksandar Jukić took a long pass from Alexander Grünwald directly to the centre. Noah Ohio just missed, but was quickly back on his feet to push Manfred Fischer's next cross over the line—0-1. On the other side, the hosts had the chance to equalise in the 10th minute, Florian Jaritz appeared in front of Patrick Pentz after Turgay Gemicibaşi's pass, but missed the goal. After a Gemicibaşi free-kick, Kosmas Gkezos put a header over the bar (17th). Similar situation opposite: Free kick Markus Suttner - header Grünwald - over (28.).

Austria from Vienna had the game under control with two thirds of possession, but compelling goal chances could not be created until the break.

Klagenfurt equalised, Dominik Fitz redeemed the Veilchen

The Carinthians had the first chance of the second half, but Patrick Pentz prevented the 1-1 with a brilliant save against Jaritz, who finished from close range after a cross by Michael Blauensteiner (47th). Manfred Schmid made two substitutions after the hour: Dominik Fitz and Can Keles came on for Alex Grünwald and Aleksandar Jukić. Eric Martel had a chance to head in a Markus Suttner corner, but the ball went over the goal (63rd). After a counter-attack Can Keles missed the finish (65.).

But Klagenfurt scored the equaliser in the 68th minute. A shot by Markus Pink after a corner by Florian Rieder was saved by Patrick Pentz, but the team goalkeeper was powerless against the follow-up shot by Patrick Greil. Romeo Vucic replaced the injured Noah Ohio. A pass from Patrick Greil went past friend and foe and hit the bar—luck for the Viennese (78th).

For the absolute final phase, Vesel Demaku and Johannes Handl came on for Matthias Braunöder and Marvin Martins. And that was to pay off: Demaku stormed into the opponent's penalty area with the ball at his foot, saw the completely free-standing Dominik Fitz, who scored into the corner—1-2 for Austria. Pentz parried a shot by substitute Darijo Pecirep, Markus Pink missed (88th, 89th). The Violets managed to hold on for the win and moved up to a sensational third place in the ADMIRAL Bundesliga with one round to go!
