Austria loses 0:5 in Salzburg

After the good performance in the previous week, Austria had to admit defeat this time to an ice-cold Salzburg team clearly with 5:0. Noah Okafor, Karim Adeyemi as well as Luka Sučić scored before the break, two penalty goals by Brenden Aaronson and Mo Camara as well as a yellow card for Marvin Martins finally decided the match in favor of the old and new champions. Congratulations on the 9th title in a row.

Coach Manfred Schmid made no changes to the starting eleven in the "second leg" after the good but unrewarding performance the previous week against Red Bull Salzburg. Youngster Alexander Grünwald was back in the squad.

Salzburg coach Matthias Jaissle made three changes: In defense, Oumar Solet replaced Kamil Piątkowski. Offensively, Brenden Aaronson and Noah Okafor started in place of Nicolás Capaldo and Junior Adamu.

The game probably already decided at halftime

Austria fell behind after less than two minutes. Salzburg won the ball in midfield, a shot by Mohamed Camara reached Noah Okafor with a bit of luck, who gave Patrick Pentz in the Austria goal no chance (2nd). A shot by Aleksandar Jukić was blocked, and in the subsequent counterattack Karim Adeyemi was stopped by Pentz (8.). Can Keles took a shot from 18 meters, Philipp Köhn parried the ball (11.). Salzburg increased to 2:0 in the 18th minute, a shot by Adeyemi was deflected unstoppable by Eric Martel.

In contrast to the previous week, Austria did not get into the duels at all, and the third goal also resulted from a ball loss in the build-up to the game. After a pass from Nicolas Seiwald, Luka Sučić scored to make it 3:0 (28.). Patrick Pentz prevented worse with saves against Aaronson and Okafor (30., 31.). Marvin Martins missed a Markus Suttner cross by a hair's breadth, but otherwise Austria had a hard time offensively (35.). Salzburg went into the half-time break with a 3:0 lead.

Nothing to get

Manfred Schmid brought on Marco Djuričin and Dominik Fitz for Romeo Vucic and Matthias Braunöder in the second half. Eric Martel moved to the six-position to provide more stability in midfield. But after a Martins tackle on Sučić and a long VAR check, referee Walter Altmann ruled a penalty for Salzburg, and Martins also saw a yellow-red card. Brenden Aaronson scored from the spot to make it 4:0 (54.).

Vesel Demaku came on for Aleksandar Jukić, a little later Alexander Grünwald for Eric Martel. In between, Patrick Pentz saved Austria from conceding a fifth goal three times with great saves against Seiwald, Adamu and Šeško (62nd, 65th, 67th). Another more than questionable penalty in favor of Salzburg after a one-on-one between Lucas Galvão and Junior Adamu let Mo Camera score to make it 5-0 (85th). Noah Ohio came on for the closing minutes, but there was nothing left for Austria today.
