The Austria family set a sign of solidarity and auctioned off the specially made 'STOP WAR' jerseys. The net proceeds will now go entirely to 'Neighbors in Need' and will benefit people in Ukraine affected by the war.
On February 27, three days after the start of the Russian war of aggression on Ukraine, the starting eleven of the Violets entered the match against WAC wearing 'STOP WAR' jerseys. The action drew considerable media attention, and the fan scene also knew: "In war, there are only losers."
We decided to auction off the jerseys signed by all the players, raising a total of €10,571.40 for charity. By far the most expensive (because most popular) jersey was that of Alex Grünwald, which brought in 1,921 euros.
The net proceeds will be transferred to the aid organization "Nachbar in Not" (Neighbors in Need) in the coming days to help relatives of war victims, injured, traumatized and displaced people as quickly as possible. The supply of water, food, hygiene articles, medical aid, cash assistance and heating material remains a top priority.
Austria Wien would like to thank all those who bid and provided such valuable assistance!
