Third win in a row! 2-1 against WSG Tirol

Zlatko Dedic equalized Austria Wien’s early lead through Bright Edomwonyi, but Wattens weakened themselves with a yellow/red card before the break. Benedikt Pichler scored the winning goal in the 57th minute. In the standings Austria Wien is three points ahead of Altach.

Christian Ilzer made four changes to his starting eleven: Alexandar Borković, Patrick Wimmer and Christoph Monschein were given a break, James Jeggo was suspended due to his fifth yellow card. Erik Palmer-Brown in the central defence, and Thomas Ebner in defensive midfield. Benedikt Pichler and Bright Edomwonyi started in the offense.

Wattens coach Thomas Silberberger had to do without the suspended Kelvin Yeboah, Sebastian Santin, Stefan Hager and Florian Buchacher remained on the bench. Zlatko Dedic, Sandro Neurauter, Florian Rieder and Felix Adjei moved into the starting line-up.

Edomwonyi and Dedic scored before the break

Just like on Tuesday, Austria Wien scored quickly: Benedikt Pichler took the ball on the right wing from Felix Adjei, Bright Edomwonyi used his assist - 0-1 in the 8^th minute.

The 'Violets' were especially superior in the duels (over 75% duels won in the early stages). Pichler missed a cross by Manprit Sarkaria, a little later Sarkaria came a step too late for a cross by Dominik Fitz (12’, 16’).

Out of nowhere WSG Tirol equalized. A flawless shot by Fabian Koch hit the crossbar, then Zlatko Dedic headed after a cross by Florian Rieder and scored the surprising 1-1 (32’).

David Gugganig was too late fighting Dominik Fitz and saw the yellow-red in the 40^th minute. Sarkaria missed the goal with the resulting free kick. Until the break, Austria Wien could not take advantage of their many chances.

Pichler scores the winning goal

Dominik Fitz came to two finishes shortly after the break. The first shot, after assist by Edomwonyi, was blocked, a shot from the turn (prepared by Sarkaria) went over the goal. Alexander Grünwald kicked a free kick from the edge of the box, the ball hit the crossbar (52’). Five minutes later, however, the “Violets” were able to cheer again: the ball came to Grünwald via Stephan Zwierschitz. The captain passed to Benedikt Pichler, who gave Ferdinand Oswald no chance - the third goal of the season for the 22-year-old (57’).

In the 63^rd minute WSG Wattens had a double chance through Thanos Petsos and Florian Buchacher, but Florian Klein and Erik Palmer-Brown successfully intervened. Ilzer swapped five times during the second half: Alexandar Borković, Patrick Wimmer, Maximilian Sax, Christoph Monschein and Maudo Jarjué came into the game for Michael Madl, Benedikt Pichler, Manprit Sarkaria, Bright Edomwonyi and Dominik Fitz.

Oswald deflected a shot to the corner after a solo by Max Sax, Grünwald's shot was blocked (80’). Dominik Fitz failed twice on Oswald; Patrick Wimmer’s follow-up shot went over the goal (86’). A goal from Wimmer in the 90^th minute was denied because of an offside position, a little later the ball jumped from one bar to the other but not into the goal - again Wimmer was unlucky (90’+2’). Monschein had the last chance, Austria Wien won against WSG Tirol and celebrated their third victory in a row.
