Tomas Zorn is taking up his position as chairman of the board of Austria Wien with immediate effect. In this role, the 39-year-old will be responsible for sporting matters and, together with Harald Zagiczek, will have overall responsibility for the club. The two directors will make key decisions jointly, in accordance with the newly adopted rules of procedure.
President Kurt Gollowitzer: "In accordance with the existing syndicate agreement, the investor group has the right to propose candidates for the position of sporting director at FK Austria Wien AG. After Tomas Zorn was officially proposed, the supervisory board considered the appointment carefully and, following a hearing, came to the conclusion that Tomas Zorn is very well suited to this position in terms of his professional expertise. As a result, he was unanimously appointed as a ne chairman by all representatives of the supervisory board. In the interests of Austria, it was crucial for me that he fully identifies with the club's sporting strategy and wants to work with the existing sporting management to lay the foundations for a positive future for Austria Wien."
Chairman Tomas Zorn: "Austria Wien is an extremely attractive challenge. The club is characterised by an excellent academy and youth development programme, has a great tradition and a passionate fan base. The club's strategy, with core elements such as the right squad balance, a stringent transfer policy and the promotion of young players, forms a strong basis for the sustainable development of Austria in conjunction with the existing team. The key is that all decisions are based on a clearly defined sporting identity and that we remain consistently true to our common line. As a first step, I am now looking forward to getting to know all areas of the club, from the sporting management, to the coaching team, the players and all the staff, in order to gain a comprehensive overall impression."
