Training camp kicks off in Bad Tatzmannsdorf

As in previous years, Austria Wien are preparing for the new season this week at the AVITA Resort in Bad Tatzmannsdorf. Several intensive training sessions are scheduled until Saturday, and the training camp will conclude with a friendly against Debreceni VSC.

At 8.00 am sharp, the violet team coach set off from the Generali Arena and made its way to the AVITA Resort in Bad Tatzmannsdorf. Immediately after arriving and settling into their rooms, the first training session was on the agenda. It was a slightly more relaxed session to start with, in high summer temperatures and under perfect conditions on the pitch at SC Bad Tatzmannsdorf.

Team spirit, fitness & defensive work

In his first brief address on the pitch, coach Stephan Helm spoke about the team as a unit. “Our team is defined by its team spirit; everyone stands up for one another. We want to hold on to that and continue to strengthen this bond, constantly and ever further.”

The focus over the coming days will be on fitness, Helm said after lunch. “We’ll be having intensive sessions and want to lay the foundations here once again. Apart from that, we’ll be focusing more on our play in the final third and, specifically, on our defensive work.”

At 6.00 pm, former Bundesliga referee Markus Hameter led the compulsory refereeing training session, before the team watched the World Cup match between Brazil and Japan over dinner at 7.00 pm.

As well as the training sessions, there will be a short round of golf on Thursday as a team-building event, and the second friendly of the pre-season is scheduled for Saturday 5 July. To round off the training camp, the Veilchen will face Debreceni VSC in Kirchschlag – the fourth-placed side in the 2025/26 Hungarian league and a participant in Q2 of the UEFA Conference League. Kick-off is at 3.00 pm.
