Violets at the U17 World Cup in Qatar

Ifeanyi Ndukwe, Hasan Deshishku and Vasilije Marković travelled to Qatar at the beginning of the week to take part in the U17 World Cup. Team manager Hermann Stadler's squad will face Saudi Arabia (5 November), Mali (8 November) and New Zealand (11 November) in Group L. In addition to the three players, Christoph Witamwas and Michael Walker are also part of the coaching staff in Qatar. All Austria matches will be broadcast live on Sky Sport Austria.

The U17 tournament will be held for the first time with 48 participating nations and will take place on a total of nine pitches at the Aspire Academy in Doha. Summer temperatures of around 30 degrees are expected. The first and second-placed teams and the eight best third-placed teams from the 12 groups will advance to the knockout stage.

Austria provides second-most players in the squad

With three players, Austria is the club with the second-most players in the 21-man squad after Red Bull Salzburg. In addition to Ifenayi Ndukwe, Hasan Deshishku and Vasilije Marković, two other Violets players, Tomy Baotić and Can Danis, are on the call-up list. This is further proof of the strong youth development work at Austria and, in particular, the positive developments of the last year. Ndukwe & Co. will start the competition against Saudi Arabia on 5 November (2:30 p.m.). This will be followed by a second match against Mali on 8 November (2:00 p.m.), before Stadler's team takes on New Zealand on 11 November (4:45 p.m.).
