The match began at a fast pace: in the opening minutes, the Violets attempted to shift the play into Graz's half. Although the visitors were awarded a harmless free kick early on (5'), the home side immediately regained control and pushed into the opposition's penalty area – without success.
After Graz's first corner (10'), whose follow-up shot was safely saved by Jasmin Pal, the Violets also created a dangerous situation in front of goal from a set piece: Tatjana Weiss narrowly missed after a corner (14'). Shortly afterwards, Modesta Uka tried her luck against her former club for the first time, but missed the target (17').
Sturm tried to build up pressure in the immediate counterattack, but Anna Schorn cleared the ball decisively before it could reach the Veilchen goal. Pal was also on hand again to defuse a dangerous shot from the visitors. The Veilchen continued to dominate the game and surprised with a special free kick variation via Louise Schöffel, but the ball found no takers in the penalty area (20'). After half an hour, Carina Wenninger had a header on goal, but the Graz goalkeeper made a confident save (30'). At the other end, Pal deflected a shot with her fingertips at the last second (33').
A few minutes before half-time, the Violets took the lead: Sara Pavlović passed to Schöffel, who played the ball on to Wenninger. The captain sent a sharp cross into the middle. A Graz player initially cleared the ball, but Dominiká Škorvánková followed up, won the ball and shot it through a crowd of players into the goal. The starting eleven debutant thus deservedly put the Violets in the lead. The score remained 1-0 at half-time.
Shortly after the restart, Schorn tried her luck from distance (47'), followed by Wenninger from the side (52'), but neither shot posed a threat. The game then continued for several minutes without any notable chances. In the 65th minute, Lena Triendl made an offensive statement after a pass from Schöffel, but the Graz goalkeeper made the save. At the other end, a corner kick by the visitors came to nothing (75').
The Violets remained more active: Schiechtl tried her luck from the side (80') before the second goal came shortly afterwards: following a corner from Uka, Tatjana Weiss headed the ball in to make it 2-0, much to the delight of the crowd. In added time, Schorn missed another chance (90+1'), and Sturm also had a final shot, which Pal saved confidently (90+3').
In the end, the Violets emerged victorious from a duel full of important moments of transition: thanks to a committed performance and goals from Škorvánková and Weiss, they celebrated a deserved 2-0 home win – and thus remain at the top of the table going into the winter break.
