Sunshine and around 20 degrees awaited the Violets on Saturday afternoon. Austria Vienna got off to a motivated start - after just a few minutes, a cross from Jacqueline Hajek found its way into the penalty area but found no takers (3'). Then bitter moments followed: After an unfortunate handball, referee Braunschmidt awarded a penalty and Neulengbach took the lead through Panakova (8'). It was the first goal conceded in the Bundesliga in the 2024 calendar year.

The Violets did not bury their heads in the sand and immediately played for the equalizer. After a corner kick, Verena Volkmer had a header, but it was too central (15'). An even game developed in which both teams gave each other nothing. However, there were not many noteworthy scoring chances either side and the Violet women went into the break 1-0 down.

Ziletkina and Mauly equalize twice

Coach Stefan Kenesei reacted and brought on Alisa Ziletkina for Anna Schorn. The second half then began to Austria's liking: They pressed for an equalizer, Dominique Bruinenberg (47') and Yvonne Weilharter (48') had good chances. The goal was in the air.

Then redemption finally came: Joker Ziletkina won a running duel after a long ball from goalkeeper Larissa Haidner and scored the equalizer (69'). A few minutes later, Ziletkina had a great chance to take the lead after a cross from Hajek, but her header missed the target (71').

The game then became increasingly heated, with the final moments coming thick and fast. First, Neulengbach made it 1-2 while Weilharter lay injured on the ground (88'). But the Violets struck back in stoppage time: substitute Antea Batarilo crossed into the penalty area, where Lea Mauly converted the second ball (90+1').

Although the Violets conceded more than one goal in a competitive match for the first time since October 14, 2023, they have been unbeaten in eleven matches since that very day.
