Violets start their winter preparations

After a relaxing and well-deserved winter break, the women of Austria started their preparations again on Wednesday. The Violets have several test matches and a training camp in Belek, Turkey, to look forward to in the coming weeks. For head coach Stefan Kenesei, the main aim is to be a little more “on point” after the preparation.

It was a crowning finale before the winter break that saw the Violets climb to second place in the table for the winter. With a 2-0 home win against FC Bergheim, they were able to start the relaxing winter break in good spirits. Sporting director Lisa Makas is satisfied with the first half of the season: “We got off to a very good start this season and things have simply worked out for us. Of course, that's also down to the team behind it. I think it's very important how the team works and we've simply worked extremely well on that in preparation. Luck is always part of it, but the processes we developed last season have now simply taken hold and are still working.”

Preparation started with tests

After a few weeks of relaxation, things got going again on Wednesday evening. While the players will be tested in the first two training sessions, preparations for the test matches will then begin.

Four test matches are scheduled before the Cup quarter-final against Neulengbach on February 8. On January 17, the first match is away against Lokomotiva Brno from the Czech Republic. Two days later, the time has come to depart for Belek in Turkey. At the training camp, the women will play two more test matches against Antalya Baykus Kadin SK (January 21) and FC Rot-Schwarz Thun (January 24) from the Swiss Women's Super League. After their return, there will then be a test at home against the women of FC Györ from Hungary.

“We want to sharpen things up in all phases of the game”

For head coach Stefan Kenesei, the goals of the preparation are clear: “We want to sharpen up a bit in all phases of the game and be a bit more on point. We also want to deepen our analysis from the first half of the season. It's a relatively short preparation, which means we need to find ourselves again quickly and then attack. We'll see what else is possible.”
