Wimmer: "We have something to make up for"

In the 29th round of the ADMIRAL Bundesliga, the Veilchen welcome SCR Altach to the Generali-Arena. A total of 10,600 tickets have been sold for the Friday evening match (19:30). After the painful 1-0 defeat against WSG Tirol, the team is keen to make amends. Coach Michael Wimmer: "We now have to show a different face and push ourselves to the limit!"

Coach Michael Wimmer on...

...the 0:1 defeat in Tyrol

"The defeat was in our stomachs. Our behaviour with the second balls or when counter-pressing was not good. We have to be more alert and present again. The positioning wasn't right at times either, the gaps were too big. You need a certain greed after losing the ball, which we lacked on Tuesday. We've worked through that. We know what we're capable of, but we have to call on that. We've now lost three of our last 20 games. We don't need to talk ourselves into a crisis. The fact is: We will show a different face against Altach, we have something to make up for!"

...the reasons for fluctuations in performance

"I would only agree to a limited extent that we are 'inconsistent'. I think our results have been reasonably consistent, but our performances haven't always been. Last Saturday, after the 3-0 win against Tirol, we managed to back up our away win at WAC. On Tuesday, we didn't confirm our home win. My mood on the return journey was accordingly. I told the team quite clearly what I thought of their performance. I'm sure the Tirol game was an exception in terms of attitude."

...about tomorrow's opponent Altach
"We lost the first game 1-2, we won the second 2-1 and the third ended in a 1-1 draw. It was always close against Altach, we never played our performance over 90 minutes. Keyword 'basics': When I recall the energy from Saturday's win against Tirol, what was already going on in the dressing room, it was clear that we would put on a game like that. We lacked that energy on Tuesday. We have to show a different face tomorrow, we have something to make up for. We have to go full throttle against Altach. If everyone pushes their limits, then we can confirm our home streak."
