The Violets prevailed in their eighth ADMIRAL Women's Bundesliga match on Saturday. Despite conceding the first goal, the Violets managed to turn the game around against USV Neulengbach and take home three points. An own goal by the opponents and a goal by Maria Agerholm saw the game end 1-2.

Austria Wien dominated the game from the start. Louise Schöffel tried her luck in the 5th minute, but her shot went just wide of the goal. Shortly afterwards, Schöffel once again thwarted a dangerous Neulengbach attack with a strong effort.

The Violets pressed forward but were unable to create any clear chances. After 15 minutes, they earned their first corner, but it came to nothing. Shortly afterwards, Almedina Šišić tried her luck (18'), but she too missed the target. Elisa Pfattner (22') and Virginia Kirchberger (27') both failed to get past the Neulengbach goalkeeper, who reacted strongly.

Things got turbulent in the 34th minute: after a misunderstanding in the hosts' defense, there was confusion in the penalty area, but the Neulengbach goalkeeper was able to defuse the situation. Two free kicks by the home team (39th, 42nd) also remained harmless. So the teams went into the break goalless – 0-0 after 45 minutes despite the visitors' clear superiority.

Second half: Falling behind as a wake-up call

Austria head coach Stefan Kenesei brought on fresh legs after the break: Modesta Uka and Lotta Cordes came into the game – and immediately created danger. Uka caused a stir in the 47th minute, passing to Šišić, who shot over the goal.

Despite numerous free kicks and corners – including by Carina Wenninger (49th minute), Schöffel (57th minute), and Kirchberger (58th minute) – the ball simply would not go in. And then came the setback: in the 64th minute, Neulengbach took advantage of a lapse in the Austria defense. Goalkeeper Jassi Pal was standing far in front of her own goal as usual and managed to reach the shot from distance, but could not prevent the goal – 1-0 for Neulengbach.

The turning point: own goal brings momentum – Agerholm scores

But the Veilchen's response was not long in coming. In the 72nd minute, an own goal by Neulengbach led to the equalizer – an unfortunate deflection from Lena Triendl ended up in the hosts' own goal (1-1).

Just one minute later, substitute Maria Agerholm turned the game around with a precise finish after good work from Uka – 1-2 to Austria Vienna (73').

Final phase: a flurry of chances but no further goals

Neulengbach pushed for the equalizer, but Pal made a strong save in the 78th minute. At the other end, the Violets remained dangerous: two corners (81'), a great chance (84' and two shots off the crossbar (89' and 90+2') could have made the result even more emphatic.

In the end, it remained a 1-2 away win – a deserved victory for Austria, who showed morale despite numerous missed chances and turned the game around after falling behind for the first time. With this away win, the Violets maintain their lead in the table and go into the next round with a five-point lead over SKN St. Pölten.
