Austria were beaten 0-1 at the Tivoli

A late handball penalty, which Denis Tomic converted for the Tyroleans, meant that Austria Vienna were beaten for the first time in seven games. In addition, Hakim Guenouche was shown the red card for an emergency brake in injury time. The match ended 1-0 in favour of WSG Tirol.

Johannes Handl (muscular problems) and Lucas Galvão (adductor) were ruled out with slight injuries, so Marvin Martins and Matteo Meisl started alongside Tin Plavotić in central defence this time. Manfred Fischer started in midfield in place of James Holland, while coach Michael Wimmer opted for Muharem Husković in attack. Hakim Guenouche took his place on the bench, while Fisnik Asllani was back in the squad for the first time since 9 December after recovering from a tendon injury in the sole of his foot.

Thomas Silberberger also made a few changes, swapping the entire midfield. Bror Blume, Johannes Naschberger and Luca Kronberger moved into the starting line-up. Thomas Geris in defence and Aleksander Buksa in attack were also new to the team. Mahamadou Diarra was absent due to his fifth yellow card.

Goalless first half

After a brief interruption due to security concerns in the stadium, Austria started with a bang. Andreas Gruber had the chance to take the lead after just a few minutes, but was denied by Adam Stejskal in the Tyrolean goal (6'). The Czech also parried a shot from Manfred Fischer (9'). After a corner from Dominik Fitz, Gruber tried his heel and the ball went just wide of the goal (13'). After a long throw-in from Lukas Sulzbacher, WSG also had a chance through David Gugganig, but Christian Früchtl was on hand (16'). A shot from Frans Krätzig after a fine counter-attack was blocked (17').

WSG Tirol got stronger and stronger in this phase. Bror Blume got into a good shooting position - again after a throw-in from Sulzbacher - and Früchtl had to stretch himself considerably (32'). Aleksander Buksa put a header next to the goal (39'). Austria came back with a shot from Dominik Fitz - over the bar (42'). The teams went into the break at 0-0.

Penalty for WSG Tirol in the 87th minute

The second half began evenly, with Frans Krätzig having the first chance. However, his volley from Andi Gruber's cross hit the outside of the net. After an hour, Michi Wimmer made a triple substitution: James Holland, Romeo Vučić and Hakim Guenouche came on for Moritz Wels, Muki Husković and Dominik Fitz. Reinhold Ranftl tried from distance but shot over the goal (69'). James Holland had to come off shortly after his substitution with a back injury, while Fisnik Asllani celebrated his comeback.

In the 85th minute, referee Alan Kijas awarded a penalty for Tirol after an on-field review, as Marvin Martins was hit on the hand from behind while jumping - a questionable decision. Denis Tomic, who had just come on as a substitute, scored to make it 1-0 for the home side.

A shot from Romeo Vučić was deflected out for a corner, but the ball wouldn't go in. In stoppage time, Hakim Guenouche stopped Lukas Sulzbacher as the last man with illegal means and was shown the red card. Austria were beaten 1-0 by WSG Tirol.
