The second friendly match of the training camp in Turkey against DAC 1904 ended in a 1-1 draw on Monday afternoon. Marko Raguž put the Violets ahead after a corner from Dominik Nišandžić, but the Slovaks equalised shortly before the end. Johannes Handl celebrated his comeback on the pitch.
After the Violets flew to Antalya with Dunajská Streda a week ago and will fly back to Vienna with the Slovaks on Wednesday, there was still a friendly match to be played in between. At the Limak Arcadia Sport Centre, where the violet women are training this week, they faced the club of former Violet Andreas Gruber.
Stephan Helm sent out a starting eleven with three changes compared to the first test against Dukagjini two days ago. Alongside Aleksandar Dragović, Dejan Radonjić and Tin Plavotić started in the back three, while Kang Hee Lee moved up front to replace Abubakr Barry, who was given a break today. Kelvin Boateng started in attack alongside Johannes Eggestein and captain Manfred Fischer.
Reinhold Ranftl had the first chance of the game, shooting from the right of the goal, but his shot posed no danger (6'). At the other end, Matteo Schablas Gruber was brought down just outside the penalty area, but the resulting free kick was taken short and Şahin-Radlinger was not called into action (21'). Shortly afterwards, Boateng shot over the bar from a Ranftl cross (24').
It was only in the final stages of the first half that there were several more chances. Plavotić shot after a free kick from Eggestein (42'), and two minutes later Ranftl fired a shot over the bar (44'). DAC almost took the lead almost immediately afterwards, but Plavotić cleared off the line (45').
At half-time, the violet coaching team made four changes: Mirko Kos, Philipp Wiesinger, Taeseok Lee and Sanel Šaljić came on. And Šaljić, who recently extended his contract until 2030, had the first big chance of the second half. After some good interplay between Fischer and Eggestein, the 20-year-old found himself in a good position in front of the opposition keeper, but failed to beat him (48').
After an hour, seven more substitutions followed, with only the four players who came on at half-time remaining on the pitch. In addition to Marko Raguž, Konstantin Aleksa, Dominik Nišandžić, Vasilije Marković, Marijan Österreicher and Ifeanyi Ndukwe, the Austria fans who had travelled with the team were particularly excited to see Johannes Handl – it was the Styrian's first appearance since 10 August 2025.
The Violets also created chances with their fresh personnel: a short corner came via Nišandžić, Marković and Šaljić to the centre, where Wiesinger had the chance to take the lead (72'). Just moments later, Marković found himself alone in front of goal, but like Nišandžić, he failed to convert form short distance (73'). However, after the resulting corner from Nišandžić, Raguž was in the right place at the right time to make it 1-0 (74')!
In the last quarter of an hour, goalkeeper Stefan Blažević, Romeo Mörth and Romeo Vučić also got their first minutes in violet. Shortly before the final whistle, DAC also managed to equalise from a corner (88') – a fair result in Belek.
