Austria Vienna signs Marco Brandt

The 19-year-old striker is moving from FC Liefering to the Verteilerkreis and will be hunting for goals for the Young Violets with immediate effect. In the 2023/24 season, the Austrian was crowned top scorer in the U18 ÖFB Youth League.

‘I'm really happy to be here! After talking to the people in charge – especially the coach – I immediately had a very good feeling. This is the first time I've lived so far away from home, so I want to settle in well here first and get to know the city, the team and the coaching staff. My goal is to integrate well and get as much playing time as possible,’ says Marco Brandt, looking forward to his new role.

Brandt moved from SV Ried to Red Bull Salzburg in the summer of 2017 and subsequently played for all the academy teams in Mozart's city. In the 2023/24 season, the left-footed player became champion in the ÖFB U18 Youth League and was crowned top scorer with 19 goals in 24 games. The Austrian youth international then played for the Bulls in the UEFA Youth League and made his debut for FC Liefering in the 2nd division on 22 February 2025 at the age of 18. The youngster was then sidelined for the rest of the season with a shoulder injury. The 19-year-old made his comeback in the fifth round of the current season against Schwarz-Weiß Bregenz, scoring his first competitive goal as a professional. He has since made seven more appearances in LigaZwa this season.

Sporting director Michael Wagner: ‘With Marco Brandt, we have signed another young Austrian. He has a lot of potential and should strengthen the Young Violets' attack with his pace and dynamism. We are delighted that he will be joining us permanently in the winter and will be able to get used to the environment and his new colleagues.’
