The end of August will see a first for the Violets: Austria Wien will be participating in an international women's competition for the first time and will also enjoy home advantage. The second qualifying round of the UEFA Women's Champions League, which is being held as a mini-tournament, will take place at the Franz-Horr-Stadion.
On Wednesday, August 27, at 7:00 p.m., the semi-final against Scottish record champions Glasgow City is on the agenda. Tickets for this game are now available in the fan shop and at fak.at/tickets for €10 or €5 for children.
'The anticipation for our first appearance on the European stage is huge. On top of that, we will hopefully be able to play the UEFA Women's Champions League matches in front of lots of Austria fans at our Franz-Horr-Stadion, which will give us an extra boost. It's a new and big challenge that we worked hard for last season and now get to experience and soak up. All the players are raring to go and, together with the fans, we want to advance to the next round,' says coach Stefan Kenesei.
If the Violets beat the Scottish team, Carina Wenninger & Co will face Belarusian runners-up FC Minsk in the final on Saturday, August 30, at 2:00 p.m. Ticket sales will start online and in the fan shop on Friday, August 29, at 12:00 p.m. This game would be included for season ticket holders for the 2025/26 season.
If Austria win the final, they would advance to the third qualifying round of the UEFA Women's Champions League. If they lose, the Violets would transfer to the second qualifying round of the newly created UEFA Women's Europa Cup.
In 2018/19, the then partner club USC Landhaus competed in the UWCL qualifiers. In the mini-tournament held in Latvia, however, they had to settle for third place in a group of four after one win and two defeats and were eliminated.
