The Violets have won the league title, thereby securing the double. In the decisive showdown for the championship at the Generali Arena, the Violets faced off against SKN. Even before kick-off, it was clear that a draw would be enough for the Violets to clinch the title. In the end, the final five minutes decided the outcome of the match, as the Lower Austrians initially took the lead from a penalty, before Carina Wenninger equalised for the Violets at the last second, meaning Austria were able to lift the championship trophy in the end.

The stage was set for one of the biggest showdowns of the season. Ahead of the final round of the ADMIRAL Women’s Bundesliga, just two points separated the Veilchen and SKN St. Pölten. The situation was clear: a draw would be enough for the Veilchen to secure the league title for the first time. In front of a record crowd, a nerve-wracking duel unfolded, reaching its incredible climax only in the final seconds.
The match began intensely, as befitted a championship decider. Lena Triendl made her mark as early as the 2nd minute, but her shot from a tight angle struck the side netting. SKN tried to break the deadlock early on with a rehearsed corner routine, but Modesta Uka was alert and thwarted the move as early as the 4th minute.
The Violets were the more active side in the opening minutes. Following a corner in the 10th minute, Uka played a one-two with Škorvánková. Her shot was flicked on by Weiss with a header, but the ball flew just over the bar.
A free-kick in the 12th minute also nearly gave them the lead: Elisa Pfattner delivered a dangerous ball into the penalty area, Katharina Schiechtl flicked it on with a fine header, but the Lower Austrian goalkeeper reacted brilliantly to prevent her side from falling behind.
Austria controlled large parts of the first half and repeatedly won set-pieces. However, the goal that might have taken some of the pressure off simply wouldn’t come. Whilst the Violets pushed forward, the defence remained alert. A SKN corner in the 32nd minute was safely dealt with by goalkeeper Jasmin Pal.
Shortly before half-time, Pfattner created the next good chance. After winning the ball energetically, she first played it to Louise Schöffel, then won it back herself and went for goal, but sent the ball just wide of the post (38'). A harmless long-range shot from the visitors (39') and a direct free-kick from Uka in stoppage time, which the goalkeeper held securely, brought a hard-fought first half to a close.
The intensity remained extremely high after the break. The championship was at stake, and every challenge was contested with the utmost determination. An SKN corner was cleared with a header in the 49th minute, before a controversial incident sparked debate two minutes later. Uka was brought down in the penalty area, but the referee’s whistle remained silent.
In the 56th minute, goalkeeper Pal saved her team from falling behind. With perfect timing, she slid in to thwart a dangerous attack by the visitors and defused the situation.
Austria remained a threat from set pieces. However, a corner in the 58th minute and free-kicks from Uka in the 61st and 64th minutes were all dealt with by the in-form SKN goalkeeper. In between, Pfattner sent a follow-up shot from a corner over the bar (63'). The visitors’ best chance came in the 65th minute. But once again Pal was on hand, diving lightning-fast to her side and deflecting the ball with a superb save.
As the match wore on, Austria retreated deeper into their own half. SKN noticeably increased the pressure and shifted the action almost entirely into the Violets’ half. But the Violets’ defence held firm. Schiechtl cleared another dangerous corner from the visitors with a header in the 79th minute.
St. Pölten were now pushing forward with all their might. A free-kick in the 88th minute was flicked on by Carina Wenninger but went out of play. Just a minute later, Pal had to intervene again, saving another shot from the Lower Austrians. Even in stoppage time, Austria held firm against the attacks. A free-kick in the 95th minute initially posed no threat, with Schöffel clearing the ball from the danger zone.
Then came the moment the Violets had been dreading. In the sixth minute of stoppage time, the referee pointed to the spot. Following a foul by Schiechtl, SKN St. Pölten were awarded a penalty. The visitors seized the opportunity and converted to make it 1–0. Suddenly, the championship was within St. Pölten’s grasp. Austria Wien were just seconds away from losing a title they had already believed to be theirs.
But the Violets did not give up. With the very last move of the season, Austria were awarded a free-kick. Even goalkeeper Pal left her goal and charged forward. The ball sailed high into the visitors’ penalty area, Pal joined the fray, the ball finally fell to Wenninger – the captain reacted quickly. Shot. Goal. 1–1 in the 100th minute. Boundless jubilation on the violet side.
With that last-second equaliser, the Violets secured exactly the point they needed to clinch the league title. Following a dramatic season finale, Austria Wien are crowned champions of the 2025/26 ADMIRAL Women’s Bundesliga. But that’s not all: having already won the Cup, the league title also means they have secured the double. A season full of passion, team spirit and unforgettable moments thus comes to a perfect conclusion – crowned by one of the most spectacular finals in Bundesliga history.
