Djuričin, who played for Austria Wien as a kid and later moved to Germany to join Hertha BSC at a young age, returned to Vienna in the winter of 2021. A few days after his arrival, he made his first appearance for the Young Violets and immediately put his name on the scoresheet.

The attacker then played his first Bundesliga game for Austria Wien on Valentine's Day 2021, with his first goal following on March 21 against WAC. At the end of the 2020/21 season, Djuričin played a big part in winning the Europa League playoff in the Bundesliga, when he scored as many goals in three games against Hartberg and WAC.

In 2021/22 he was Austria's most successful scorer in the Bundesliga with nine goals. Djuričin missed the start of the current season due to injury, but recently the 29-year-old fought his way back into the purple squad.

In the future, Marco Djuričin will play in Croatia for HNK Rijeka, the former club of Alexander Gorgon. Austria Wien thanks Marco for his great commitment and wishes him only the best for the future, both professionally and privately.

Comments on the transfer

Marco Djuričin: "I didn't think I would change clubs again. In the end, there was a spontaneous opportunity to sign a three-year contract with Rijeka. I would also like to thank those responsible. Austria Wien will always be my club, the farewell was really very emotional, I did not know that before. I hope that we will meet again and I will always remain loyal to Austria, also as a fan."

Sporting Director Manuel Ortlechner: "Marco has always given everything for Austria Wien and is a true full-blooded Austrianer. He has now been given the opportunity to improve himself economically with a long-term contract, so of course we didn't put any obstacles in his way. We wish Marco all the best for the future!"
