Austria showed a good reaction after the elimination in the Cup and got a deserved point in the away match in Pasching. LASK took the lead after the break through a penalty by Robert Žulj. The first goals of Manuel Polster and Marvin Martins - both after an assist by Dominik Fitz - turned the game in favour of the Veilchen. Sascha Horvath scored the final 2:2 shortly before the end.
Manfred Schmid made some changes to the starting eleven after the Cup defeat against Sport-Club. Matteo Meisl started next to Lucas Galvão in central defence, Marvin Martins returned to the left back. Georg Teigl started on the right wing and Nikola Dovedan made his starting debut in the forward line. Andreas Gruber was not fit in time, Aleksandar Jukić was ill.
LASK coach Dietmar Kühbauer also had to accept short-term absences due to injury, with Keito Nakamura and Akos Kecskes missing with an injury. Philipp Ziereis returned to central defence after adductor problems and Robert Žulj replaced Nakamura in attacking midfield.
After a pressure-filled start by the hosts, the Veilchen found their feet after ten minutes, Nikola Dovedan had a chance after a counter-attack via Georg Teigl, Reinhold Ranftl and Dominik Fitz, but was prevented from finishing. LASK became dangerous through Thomas Goiginger, his shot whizzed past the far corner, Christian Früchtl was on it with his fingertips (12.). A cross from Manuel Polster was blocked by Rene Renner for a corner (14.).
Austria stood defensively stable and presented itself in the build-up to the game with confidence, but the decisive pass was not yet successful. After a flat free kick by Fitz, Dovedan put the ball just beside the goal (30.). The first half ended goalless.
After the second half it was a similar picture, LASK had the first chance, but Christian Früchtl parried a shot by Branko Jovičić (49th). After an assist from Dovedan, Matthias Braunöder shot past the goal (52nd). In the 53rd minute, referee Sebastian Gishamer awarded a penalty after Lucas Galvão made contact with Robert Žulj. Žulj took the kick himself and gave Früchtl no chance - 1:0 for Linz (55.).
LASK took the momentum with them after the goal, Marin Ljubičić missed a chance for the 2:0 (57.). But Austria did not give up and equalised shortly: Dominik Fitz sent in Manuel Polster, who outwitted two LASK defenders with a clever body-play and scored with a well-aimed shot to make it 1-1 (61.).
Now the momentum was on the side of the Veilchen, a shot by Ranftl went over the goal (66.). Dovedan headed a Fitz corner wide (68.). On the other side, Ljubičić appeared in front of Früchtl, but shot well over (75.). A header by Jovičić landed on the crossbar, but Früchtl would have been on the spot (78.). Haris Tabaković came on for Dovedan and a little later the game was turned around: Braunöder took a free kick in the half field, Fitz kicked the ball to the middle. Marvin Martins rose highest and headed into the far corner - 1:2 (83rd).
But the lead did not last long, a powerful shot by Sascha Horvath meant the 2:2 in the 87th minute. Substitute Florian Flecker missed the last goal chance of the match (90th), Austria and LASK parted 2:2.
