‘I am very happy to be part of this great club from now on. I am especially looking forward to the passionate fans in the stadium, but also to getting to know all my teammates and discovering the culture. It has always been my dream to play football in Europe, so I can't wait to get started,’ says Noah Botić.
The Sydney-born striker played for several clubs in the Australian city during his youth, joining Rockdale Ilinden, then known as Rockdale City Suns, in 2018. At the U16 Asian Championship in autumn 2018, Botić led his team to the semi-finals against Japan with five goals in five games and was joint top scorer. At the U17 World Cup in Brazil a year later, the hard-working striker once again proved his accuracy, scoring four of Australia's five goals in the group stage before being eliminated in the round of 16 against France.
In the summer of 2019, Botić made the big move to Europe and joined TSG Hoffenheim. Shortly after the World Cup, he was awarded the Dylan Tombides Medal as the best Australian player in the U17 to U23 age groups. In August 2021, Botić returned to Australia and joined Western United. He immediately won the championship with the Melbourne club, although the then 19-year-old did not yet play a major role in the team.
However, that changed in the 2022/23 season, when Botić gradually earned his place in the team and started ten times. The striker had a permanent place in the following season, but missed the last few weeks due to injury. In the 2024/25 season, Botić scored twelve goals in 26 games in the A-League regular season and finished second in the scoring charts. Western United qualified for the championship playoffs in third place, defeating Adelaide United 3-2 in the quarter-finals thanks to a hat-trick from Botić. Western United then lost to later champions Melbourne City, going down 1-4 on aggregate, with Noah Botić scoring the goal.
Sporting director Manuel Ortlechner: ‘Noah is a young striker who is already very complete and has a great eye for goal, as his last season in Australia proves. He has a great attitude, is determined to make it into the national team and wants to establish himself here in Europe. From the very first contact, it was clear to him that he definitely wanted to come to Austria Wien, which impressed us greatly. On top of that, we prevailed against competition from Germany, which is also gratifying. We are delighted to have signed Noah!’
