Austria had to concede defeat to LASK

Georg Teigl gave the Veilchen the lead in the 1st minute, but goals from Sascha Horvath and Husein Balić turned the game around. Aleksandar Jukić equalized before the break before Lukas Grgic made it 2:3.

Marvin Martins made his comeback and was in the Bundesliga squad for the first time since July 25, starting in the five-man backline at right-back. Manfred Fischer replaced the injured Ziad El Sheiwi at left back. Christian Schoissengeyr started in central defense, Eric Martel moved up to defensive midfield. Georg Teigl and Marco Djuričin started up front.

LASK coach Andreas Wieland relied on a three-man defense as he had on Thursday in the UEFA Europa Conference League against Helsinki, with Peter Michorl missing through suspension. In terms of personnel, however, there were seven changes in the Linz starting eleven.

Another lightning start for the Violets, 2:2 at the break

LASK kicked off, yet it was already 1:0 for the Veilchen after 19 seconds. Aleksandar Jukić won the ball and ideally set up Georg Teigl. The neo-striker confirmed his surprising positioning in this position and gave team goalkeeper Alexander Schlager no chance - the second game in a row with a goal in the first minute. Teigl almost scored the second goal in the 8th minute, but his finish after a Stanglpass from Jukić missed the goal by a hair's breadth.

Unfortunately, as in the previous week against their city rivals, Austria had to concede the equalizer through a penalty kick. Eric Martel was unfortunately hit on the arm, and referee Rene Eisner was right to award a penalty after a minute-long check. Sascha Horvath converted precisely into the left corner, Patrick Pentz was close, but ultimately without a chance (14.). Austria kept the pressure on: Manfred Fischer missed from a promising position, Jukić failed to beat Schlager after Teigl had done the groundwork (19., 23.).

But after 25 minutes it was LASK's turn again, Husein Balić shot from 20 meters and turned the game in favor of the Upper Austrians - 1:2. The equalizer of the Veilchen was not long in coming in an exciting conclusion of the fall season: Matthias Braunöder played on the right side to the very strong Marvin Martins, whose cross landed with Aleksandar Jukić. He scored beautifully into the cross corner - 2:2 in the 30th minute.

Braunöder circled a free kick on the head of Marco Djuričin, but the ball went past the goal (42nd). A great first half ended with an even score.

LASK decided the game for themselves after the break

LASK came out of the dressing room strong: a finish by substitute Andreas Gruber was defended by Johannes Handl on the line, and another double chance by Balić and Horvath was also defused with combined forces (46th, 48th). Austria had a chance through Lukas Mühl after a corner by Jukić, but the ball missed (52.). A finish by Manfred Fischer was too weak (60th). Manfred Schmid then brought on three fresh players: Leonardo Ivkić, Vesel Demaku and Dominik Fitz came on in place of Marvin Martins, Aleksandar Jukić and Marco Djuričin.

A quarter of an hour before the end, LASK took the lead again, Lukas Grgic scored to 2:3 (76.). Handl had the chance to equalize, but failed after a free kick from Braunöder to Schlager (78.). Schmid was forced to take full risks, Noah Ohio and Alexander Grünwald replacing Georg Teigl and Johannes Handl. Dominik Fitz tried a long shot, Schlager was on the spot (88th). Alexander Grünwald had the last chance of the game, Austria had to admit defeat to LASK with 2:3 and winters at the 7th place of the tipico Bundesliga.
