After the two recent international matches in the UEFA Women's Champions League qualifiers, the domestic league resumed on Sunday. The home derby against First Vienna FC took place at the Generali Arena.
The visitors put the pressure on right from the start and began the game aggressively. But the Violets struck coldly in the third minute: after a quick advance, Almedina Sisic crossed into the penalty area, where Maria Agerholm was in the right place at the right time and scored with a precise shot to give her side an early 1-0 lead.
Austria Vienna remained the more active team, but initially struggled to finish. Chances from Sisic, Agerholm and Louise Schöffel either failed to find the net or were saved by the Vienna goalkeeper. The visitors also had two chances, but Austria goalkeeper Jasmin Pal made two confident saves. The teams went into the break with a narrow lead.
After the restart, the Violets continued their dominant performance. However, Schöffel and Elisa Pfattner failed to capitalise on further opportunities. It was not until the 74th minute that the Austria fans were able to cheer again: after a corner, substitute Lena Triendl was in the right place at the right time and made it 2-0 with the tip of her toe.
Triendl remained highly active in the closing stages: she first failed with a long-range shot (79'), before finally sealing the deal in the 84th minute. After an energetic run, she beat the Vienna goalkeeper and made it 3-0.
With this victory, the Violets underlined their home strength and made a clear statement in the Vienna derby. This also gave them a confidence boost ahead of their next UWCL qualifying match against Paris FC.
