The Violets impressively asserted their lead in the ADMIRAL Women's Bundesliga at the start of the weekend. In front of their home crowd, Austria Wien secured a clear 6-0 victory over Red Bull Salzburg – after a rather tough first half, the hosts showed their class in the second half. The goals were scored by Lotta Cordes, Kathi Schiechtl with a brace and Elisa Pfattner with three goals.

It was clear from the outset that the Viennese women were determined to win, as they were naturally keen to retain their position at the top of the table. Louise Schöffel fired the first shot over the bar after just three minutes, and shortly afterwards Tatjana Weiss hit the crossbar with a long-range effort (8'). A free kick from Kathi Schiechtl (9') also failed to bring the hoped-for lead.
Salzburg held their own, also showing their hunger for victory, and had a dangerous chance in the 12th minute, which was cleared by goalkeeper Pal and Louise Schöffel working together. After a quarter of an hour, the game shifted slightly more into Austria's half despite the Violets' efforts.
But then came the first big relief: after a throw-in from Kathi Schiechtl, Pfattner was in the right place at the right time and converted to make it 1-0 in the 18th minute. However, the visitors remained a threat and continued to put Austria under pressure. The teams went into the break with a narrow lead.
After the restart, Austria immediately increased the pressure. A corner (47th minute) and a powerful long-range shot from Maria Agerholm (52nd minute) caused alarm in the Salzburg penalty area. After several corners, the 2-0 finally came: substitute Lotta Cordes headed the ball into the net in the 63rd minute. It was a debut goal for the 24-year-old German.
That finally broke the spell. Just two minutes later, Pfattner made it 3-0, and in the 70th minute, Schiechtl headed home another set piece to make it 4-0. Austria remained in goal-scoring mood: after a foul in the penalty area, Schiechtl once again converted from the spot in the 77th minute to make it 5-0.
Pfattner once again had the final say, scoring her third goal in the 89th minute with a spectacular long-range shot over the Salzburg goalkeeper to make it half a dozen.
With a 6-0 home win against Salzburg, Austria consolidates its lead in the table. As closest rivals St. Pölten only managed a draw in their parallel match against Altach, the Violets have further extended their lead at the top. Next week, they face SKN in a direct duel – a match that will once again decide who tops the table.
