"With the fans behind us to a home win!"

In the last match of the championship group (Saturday, 5 pm), the Veilchen welcome champions FC Red Bull Salzburg to the Generali Arena. 12,500 tickets have been sold. For Violet, at least the fifth place in the league is secured, for 4th place it would take a small miracle. Sporting director Manuel Ortlechner and coach Michael Wimmer review the spring, look ahead to the last game of the season and comment on the injuries to Ziad El Sheiwi and Doron Leidner.

Coach Michael Wimmer: "We will send a team onto the field that will try to win the game with full attack and the fans behind them. If Klagenfurt should win, of course we want to be prepared. Salzburg will not play with the handbrake on, we have to stand up to them, we have to believe in ourselves. For that we need the support of the fans."

Sporting director Manuel Ortlechner: "Many positive things happened in the spring. I think the direction is right. If we do our tasks tomorrow, we have a chance. It was amazing how the fans pushed us last week in Linz. We want to thank them for that support tomorrow by presenting ourselves from our best possible side. It's up to us."

Shock for El Sheiwi and Leidner

Two pieces of bad news came out of the medical department during the week. Ziad El Sheiwi, who had slowly been feeling his way back into the team after a long injury lay-off, suffered his third cruciate ligament tear in two years during the training week. Doron Leidner is also suspected to have torn his cruciate ligament and will undergo surgery in Athens next week.

Manuel Ortlechner: "Ziad is a special boy, he writes a special story, that's why it will be a special comeback from him. We believe strongly in him."

Michael Wimmer
: "When you see how hard Ziad has worked, of course it hits you. He has full support from the club and the coaching team. I wish that he doesn't lose his belief in his career. I also wish Doron a speedy recovery, of course!"

Ziad El Sheiwi and Doron Leidner - as well as Marko Raguž, Flo Wustinger and Muki Husković - are not an option for Saturday. Lucas Galvão completed his first full week of training after a long injury layoff and is a candidate for a squad spot.

Fifth place would mean that Austria would play for the last European Cup starting spot (Q2 of the UEFA Europa Conference League) in the Bundesliga play-off next week on Thursday (8.6., away) and Sunday (11.6., home), both at 5 pm.
