With 27 trophies Austria Wien is the record champion of the Austria cup.

The ÖFB Cup was first held in 1919. Austria's annexation by Germany in 1938 marked the end of the ÖFB Cup for the time being. After the end of the war, a Bundesländercup was initially held, in which only one representative per province was eligible to participate; two Cup titles of FK Austria Wien (1948, 1949) fall into this period. With the planned introduction of the European Cup Winners' Cup, the ÖFB again announced a national cup competition from 1958/59.
