Austria Wien equalizes late in the game - 2-2 against Ried

Ried took the lead twice in the Generali-Arena through Constantin Reiner and Marco Grüll. Austria Wien equalized with a penalty by Manprit Sarkaria and a goal by Marco Djuricin in stoppage time.

Peter Stöger only made one change after the victory in St. Pölten, Stephan Zwierschitz started on the left in the back four instead of Andreas Poulsen. Georg Teigl was back in the squad after his suspension.

In contrast, Ried coach Andreas Heraf almost completely rebuilt his team, only Samuel Sahin-Radlinger and Kennedy Kofi Boateng were in the starting line-up as well as on Saturday against Altach.

Bad start, but Austria Wien struck back

In the first minute, the guests from Ried came to their first corner, which Marat Satin kicked. Filip Borsos extended, Constantin Reiner pushed the ball over the line – 0-1 after 85 seconds.

The positive: There was still plenty of time to turn the game around. Marco Djuricin had a chance to equalize after assist by Manprit Sarkaria but was prevented from finishing (6’). A shot by Dominik Fitz was blocked by Sahin-Radlinger for a corner. Sarkaria brought the ball to the middle, Michael Madl hit the bar with a header (20’). In this phase Austria Wien had almost 80% possession and pushed Ried into their own half. A slight contact between Boateng and Djuricin was enough for referee Rene Eisner to give a penalty kick, Manprit Sarkaria scored and equalize (22’).

Twice Fitz on Djuricin, twice the violet striker's header missed the goal (28’, 30’). A shot by Patrick Wimmer was deflected to the corner (33’). Vesel Demaku had the last chance before the break after a mistake by Ried’s back team, but he missed (38’). With the 1-1 draw, an extremely dominant Austria Wien took a break.

Ried made two changes during the break, Marco Grüll and Ante Bajic came into the game for Filip Borsos and Patrick Schmidt. A slight injury to Johannes Handl forced Peter Stöger to reorganize his defensive line. Georg Teigl came into the game and occupied the right-back position. Stephan Zwierschitz moved into the center of the defense, Thomas Ebner to the left.

At the beginning of the second half, Ried showed a clear improvement, after a counterattack by Bajic, Grüll narrowly missed the pole (54’). After 15 minutes Austria Wien found their way into the game, with two shots by Sarkaria and one by Djuricin they were close to a goal (61’, 63’, 68’). Eric Martel also missed the goal with a long shot (73’). However, SV Ried took the lead again, Marco Grüll finished after a long pass by Constantin Reiner (78’).

Peter Stöger put everything on one card with Christoph Monschein and Agim Zeka for Thomas Ebner and Vesel Demaku. Georg Teigl tried to surprise Sahin-Radlinger twice from an acute angle, but narrowly missed (82’, 86’). Marco Djuricin equalized for the “Violets” in stoppage time: Dominik Fitz sent Manprit Sarkaria up front, he served Djuricin ideally. The striker overcame Markus Lackner and scored the deserved equalizer while falling (90’+1’).

Austria Wien stayed on Hartberg's heels with the 2-2 draw and will face Admira on Saturday.
