4:1 – clear home-victory against Sturm Graz

Goals by Ismael Tajouri-Shradi and Petar Filipovic as well as a double pack by Larry Kayode ensured a clear home win against Sturm Graz. A goal by Atik, and a dismissal for Lukas Rotpuller, had no effect on the outcome of today's game.

With the exception of Venuto, who suffered a cruciate rupture in the Derby, Coach Thorsten Fink put the same team on the field, which beat Rapid. Ismael Tajouri-Shradi took Venuto’s position.

Franco Foda made four changes to his team after the home defeat against Mattersburg, Hierländer returned to the team after a two-game suspension. Lykogiannis, Huspek and Spendlhofer were also new to the game report. Goalkeeper Gratzei was back after his injury.

Thoughts were with Venuto during the goal celebration

The game almost started with a cold shower but Alar missed alone in front of Osman Hadzikic after ground work by Hierländer. Christoph Martschinko prevented another chance by Sturm’s goal-getter after a cross by Lykogiannis (8'). Martschinko fired the first shot for the “Violets”, which clearly missed the goal (14'). Sturm Graz had more from the game in the initial phase, a shot from Huspek went just past the goal (22'). Austria lurked for counterattacks, Felipe Pires led one, but failed during the finish against Gratzei (23').

Shortly after Ismael Tajouri-Shradi's great performance followed: Jeggo slipped in the midfield, Tajouri grabbed the ball and slammed it from 27 meters over Gratzei into the top corner (25'). The entire team cheered the goal with Venuto’s jersey.

The “Violets” went one better and scored again after only a few minutes – 2:0. Alar headed a corner by Raphael Holzhauser out of the box, the follow-up shot by Tajouri-Shradi landed with Petar Filipovic, who scuttled the ball in to the goal (31'). Already the fourth goal of the season for the central defender.

FK Austria Wien brought the game under control, a finish by Alar, which was again blocked by Martschinko (38'), remained the last chance for Sturm Graz.

Larry’s double pack

The second half began without a change, but with a yellow card for Lukas Rotpuller, which should have consequences later on. Felipe Pires and Raphael Holzhauser had first chances after the side change, but Gratzei parried their finishes (50').

However, further goals by Austria were on their way. Atik’s cross hit Holzhauser from whose head the ball bounced directly into Larry Kayode’s run. The Nigerian was quickly on his way and scored the 3:0 (54'). Shortly after, our goal-getter was back on the spot: Spendlhofer lost the ball after a throw-in for Sturm Graz, again Kayode ran to Gratzei and finished perfectly to the double pack (57') - 4:0.

A small carelessness in the back allowed Sturm Graz to score the 4:1, after groundwork from Horvath, Atik scored for the guests (60'). A shot from Holzhauser went over Gratzei's goal (70'). In minute 73, Lukas Rotpuller had to leave the field after a verbal duel with Gratzei. Thorsten Fink responded and brought Abdul Kadiri Mohammed in central defence instead of Raphael Holzhauser.

Even with one less man the “Violets” made clear who the winner was. Sturm only came to chances through a header by Zulechner and a shot by Horvath, however Hadzikic did not have to interfere (79', 89'). Alexander Grünwald had the last chance of the game but Gratzei prevented the fifth goal for the home team (90' + 1'). Vienna Austria won 4:1, putting themselves five points ahead of Sturm Graz on the tipico-Bundesliga table.
