Presentation of the partnership with ‘Gazprom Export’ (link)

"It is very important to us to show that our partnership with Gazprom Export goes beyond pure sponsorship. As part of our trip to St. Petersburg, we had the opportunity to present our ideas for an intensive cooperation, it has also shown that there is great appreciation for each other on both sides. This two-day visit to Russia was important to us to show our new partners that we want to develop a proper cooperation, which will be a win-win situation for both parties," emphasizes CEO Markus Kraetschmer.
During the visit of the top game Zenit St. Petersburg against Spartak Moscow interesting insights were gained in topics such as process design, security, traffic logistics, VIP and hospitality as well as in terms of matchday program for fans. Zenit also has a whole new stadium – although you cannot compare them size wise, you can take back valuable information for your own infrastructure. "We are constantly trying to develop further in all areas," explains Kraetschmer.
Big topics were of course Austrian Wien’s rookies, the academy and the cooperation in these areas - such as joint activities of Austria Wien and Zenit St. Petersburg in other countries – for example the two clubs participating in tournaments in Asia in the future. "As a result, we can transport the brand ‘Austria Wien’ internationally - especially with the great work of our rookies and the Generali Arena along with Vienna being the most liveable city."
Discussions with many international clubs show the unique assets of Austria Wien in general and the Generali-Arena in particular. The proximity, of the first sustainable stadium in Central Europe, to the airport on one hand and to the city centre on the other hand, for example. With the subway you are in the city centre in just 8 minutes. "This is an absolute unique selling point, an asset we want to use."
Not least because of this, the Generali-Arena is an ideal meeting point for international meetings. Vienna is also geographically located between St. Petersburg, Gelsenkirchen and Belgrade - other clubs sponsored by the Gazprom Group - that's why football congresses in Vienna were already a topic:
"Already in September, a Zenit Academy delegation will come to see our new stadium, training facilities and academy. The local proximity between the stadium and the academy is a unique selling point," emphasizes Austria Wien’s CEO.
Education of young players plays an essential role for Austria Wien. International meetings always provide opportunities for knowledge exchange. Possible cooperation with Zenit in this area were already discussed.
"Once the ‘Violapark’ with the school building is completed at the Generali Arena, it may happen that a player from St. Petersburg will come to Vienna for a semester or tow. Our school system with the ‘Ballsportgymnasium’ has made an impression on Zenit, just as on BVB before. The direct proximity to the stadium is also a great asset," says Markus Kraetschmer.
Kraetschmer concludes: "This trip to Russian was on one hand very informative and valuable, on the other hand the officials of Gazprom Export and Zenit were able to see that this partnership can have a lot of advantages for them as well. This is what we will continue to work on!"
The visit to the Zenit Academy and athletic insights as well as possible sporting aspects of the cooperation will be discussed in a second part together with the Technical Director Ralf Muhr.
