Thomas Letsch released from his duties Kopie

Thomas Letsch is no longer coach of Austria Wien, the German was released from his duties today, assistant coach Robert Ibertsberger takes over temporarily.

President Frank Hensel, "We have recently had very intensive discussions and made the decision that we have to take the current situation into account and act. We have a commitment and cannot take any risks, even if I am very sorry about that. We would like to thank Thomas Letsch for his work and wish him all the best."

CEO Markus Kraetschmer, "We thank Thomas Letsch for the good cooperation, but with the tendency, especially after the game against Altach, we consider this step as necessary. We are convinced that we need a change to reach our goal, which is still an international qualification."

Sport Director Ralf Muhr, "The performance of the team did not meet our expectations. The 1-3 against Altach has clearly shown that, and necessary actions had to be taken. In that sense, it was important to make a decision in the spirit of the club. We now also expect a signal from the team, a professional approach and a positive direction. I wish Thomas Letsch all the best for his future."

Hensel, who is also the Chairman of the Supervisory Board the head coach's position requires action by the Supervisory Board – had talks with CEO Markus Kraetschmer, the Presidium and Sport Director Muhr, where the development and the current situation were analysed in detail.

Robert Ibertsberger will temporarily take over with the rest of the coaching team starting on Wednesday, Ralf Muhr has the task to find a successor and thus a solution in the coaching question as soon as possible.

There is also a change of coach for the ‘Young Violets’. Andreas Ogris will also be released from his duties with immediate effect, and co-trainer Christoph Glatzer will take over the role temporarily.

Frank Hensel, "Our rookies are a very important pillar in our overall concept, the second league is a very good training platform to introduce the players from our academy to professional football. Unfortunately, we are seeing a stagnation in the development of the ‘Young Violets’, so we think that a change is necessary here as well."

The future of Andreas Ogris, whose contract would have expired in the summer, is still open. The club would like to keep him in a different position and have conversations with him regarding the subject.
