Max Sax is excited for his comeback

Of all the players that came to Austria Wien during the summer 2018, Maximilian Sax was not yet been able to play his first game in the violet jersey because of an injury, which happened during preparation. Now he is on his way back.

"I am fit, on the right track and I feel good, I will be able to regain the needed strength during the training sessions and through games," says the 25-year-old, who is back training with the team since October 5th.

When exactly Max Sax makes his debut for the ‘Violets’ in a competitive game, will be decided by head coach Thomas Letsch. The ordeal began at the end of June, with a bone marrow oedema in the right calf bone, after the first two test games.

His return was planned for the end of September, but had to be postponed because of a cold. "If you dismiss the cold, I'm precisely on schedule," says Sax pleased.

"Support of our fans affects the team!"

He admits that he is already very much looking forward to his premiere in the new Generali-Arena. "We have already turned two games there, and this alone shows how the support and the mood of our fans affects the team," Sax remembers the 2-1 victories over Wacker Innsbruck and SV Mattersburg.

The returnee Sax, who praises the compact, stable defence, can imagine Austria Wien playing with two real strikers. They already showed that they can play both ways. "If we get a little more time, get to know each other even more, a lot will work out better!"

Everyone hopes, of course, that this will be the case at the end of the first round on October 21st (5 PM) during the home game Sturm Graz. At the end of September we eliminated the Styrian 2-0 at home in the second ÖFB Cup round. Nobody would have a problem with the same result against Sturm.

Despite his injury Max has followed all the previous competitive games from the stands or on TV and has recognized a reasons why our ‘Violets’ sometimes had a hard time scoring goals. "The automatisms and the blind understanding between the players doesn’t work perfectly yet," says the former Admira player.

The former ÖFB rookie emphasizes that it is not easy if you can’t rely on all players. Most recently the strikers Bright Edomwonyi and Alon Turgeman weren’t able to be in the line-up because of injuries. "And many are also pretty new to the team."

What Sax thinks about Sturm Graz

"Especially in the offensive you have to be coordinated, you have to know the others routes, but we will manage this as well," Sax is convinced. This is also an area that will be worked on intensively during the Bundesliga break caused by the two ÖFB international games.
